In 2003, the department of Environmental Science and Engineering was approved to set up the master program in environmental engineering, and in 2006 it was approved to set up the master program in environmental science and engineering. Since 2009, it has begun doctoral training based on the doctoral program of energy and environmental engineering. At present, there are 42 full-time faculty members, including 6 professors, 22 associate professors and 14 assistant professors; 40 teachers have doctorates, 7 of them are doctors of famous overseasuniversities; 22 have overseas experience and 1 is a foreign teacher.
The experimental center has an area of about 1600 m2, and the value of experimental instruments, experimental devices and professional software is more than 30 million. Relying on two key laboratories, the discipline has won more than 20 NSFC and state key projects in the past three years, and various research funds have reached more than 16 million. More than 250 papers have been published, including 20 ESI papers and more than 120 SCI papers in important international journals. It has a long-term cooperative relationship with many universities in the United States, Canada, Sweden, Japan and South Korea, and many teachers have cooperative researches with universities in United States, Canada and the European Union.
It aims to cultivate high-quality scientific research talents with the characteristics of science and technology oriented, multi-disciplinary and service-oriented. Relying on the Ministry of Education Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Zone, the Ministry of education national college students innovative experimental plan school and the Ministry of science and technology national innovative talent training demonstration base, a large number of outstanding graduates have been trained. In recent three years, more than 40 SCI papers have been published. The graduates are distributed in various fields of environmental science and engineering, and many of them are studying for doctoral degrees in famous universities all of world.
The main research directions of this subject include water pollution control engineering, air pollution control and engineering, solid waste treatment and treatment, energy environment and pollution control and environmental simulation, etc., and is carrying out research on soil remediation and environmental management. Full time teachers come from environmental engineering, fluid mechanics, chemistry and many other fields. Interdisciplinary is a major advantage of this discipline, and the research work has realized the close combination of theoretical research and engineering application.
