Focusing on the National Fund Application

In order to promote the teachers to actively carry out the NSF application work in the next year, the School of Environment and Architecture held the 2nd theme salon activity of Research and Talent Cultivation in 2022 on Nov. 8. Dean Huang Yuandong, Mr. Wang Haidong and Ms. Chi Lin shared their experiences on NSF application from the perspective of NSF surface project and youth fund respectively. The event was hosted by Vice President of the College, Ms. Lihui Wang, and was conducted in a combination of online and offline ways.

First of all, Ms. Chi Lin shared her experience in the application of Young Scientists Fund with the topic of From zero to one, the future is promising, and explained the 9 key points in the application writing from three parts: application preparation, writing notes and application revision. In particular, the key words selection, graphical expression and the importance of the research base were discussed, which showed the dedication and commitment of Ms. Chi Lin in the application. This not only moved the reviewers, but also deeply infected every audience in the meeting. Next, Mr. Haidong Wang talked about the NSF application in terms of his personal experience in applying and writing the application. He emphasized that learning is the core competency of the project and the applicant, and that one should learn to review the application from the perspective of the letter evaluation experts. Mr. Wang Haidong emphasized the importance of problem-oriented and demand-focused applications in the face-to-face projects, and also shared with the audience He also shared his insights on scientific research such as rowing against the current.

Dean Huang Yuandong shared with the faculty members the valuable experience of declaring and being approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Combined with the refining process of the fund declaration topic, he pointed out that the fund declaration and scientific research work should be persistent, thick and thin, and the declaration team results should be published in depth integration; at the same time, he encouraged the faculty to adhere to the confidence of winning in the fund declaration process, to take the fund declaration as an opportunity to layout early and continuously promote the depth of scientific research work.

Next, the participants had a lively discussion on the problems in the process of fund declaration. The annual fund declaration exchange activities make teachers learn, exchange and improve each other in the process of fund declaration, and this activity greatly increases the academic resonance and enthusiasm of teachers in fund declaration and promotes the scientific research work of the School of Environment and Architecture, and the School will continue to do a good job in supporting relevant policies from the stage of application writing and expert gate-keeping.
